Meda is a small, unincorporated community located in Tillamook County, Oregon, in the United States. It sits right by the Little Nestucca River. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes or buildings that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
What's in a Name?
Meda got its name to remember an English woman. We don't know much more about her, but her name lives on in this quiet place.
A Look at Meda's Post Office History
Meda once had its own post office. It first opened on May 11, 1887. The very first person in charge of the post office was Wallace Yates. Over the years, five more people took on this important job.
However, the post office didn't stay open forever. It closed down in 1892. Then, it reopened in 1915, serving the community for another five years before closing for good.
