Medianía Baja is a special kind of neighborhood, called a barrio, located in the town of Loíza, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 8,781 people lived there.
A Look at History
After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became an unincorporated territory of the United States. This means it's a part of the U.S. but doesn't have all the same rights as a state.
In 1899, the United States government counted everyone living in Puerto Rico. They found that Medianía Baja and a nearby area called Medianía Alta had a combined population of 2,296 people.
