Meessen De Clercq facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Meessen De Clercq is a cool contemporary art gallery located in Brussels, Belgium. Think of a gallery as a special place where artists show their newest creations. This gallery is set up inside an old building that has three different floors.

The idea for Meessen De Clercq started in 2007. An art historian named Olivier Meessen teamed up with an art lover named Jan De Clercq. They both wanted to open a place in Brussels where people could see exciting new art.

The gallery first opened its doors in April 2008. Their very first show featured artworks from seven different artists. After this first event, the gallery closed for a short time. This was so they could make some changes and rebuild parts of the space.

In September 2008, Meessen De Clercq reopened. Since then, they have been showing art from many different artists. They feature both well-known artists and new, rising talents in the art world.
