Mehcad Brooks is an American actor and former model. He was born on October 25, 1980. You might know him from his roles in popular TV shows. He played Matthew Applewhite in Desperate Housewives and Terrance "TK" King in Necessary Roughness. He also starred as James Olsen in Supergirl. Since 2022, he has been playing Detective Jalen Shaw on the TV show Law & Order.

Early Life and Education
Mehcad Brooks grew up in Austin, Texas. He went to L.C. Anderson High School there. His mother, Alberta Phillips, is a writer for a newspaper. His father, Billy Brooks, was a professional football player.
After finishing high school in 1999, Mehcad went to the University of Southern California. He studied at their School of Cinema-Television. He once shared that he chose USC over basketball scholarships and offers from other top schools. He later left college to focus on his acting career.

Early Roles in TV and Film
In 2004, Mehcad appeared in the TV series Cold Case. From 2005 to 2006, he played Matthew Applewhite in the ABC drama Desperate Housewives. He also acted in the 2006 movie Glory Road. In this film, he played Harry Flournoy, a college basketball player. He was part of the team that made history by winning a national championship.
In 2007, he was in the movie In the Valley of Elah. He also played Jerome in the TV series The Game in 2008. In 2009, he appeared in Dollhouse. He also played Benedict "Eggs" Talley in the second season of True Blood.
Leading Roles and Recent Work
From 2011 to 2013, Mehcad Brooks had a main role in the USA Network series Necessary Roughness. He played Terrence "TK" King, a football player with anger issues. His character had to see a therapist because of these issues.
He also guest-starred in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He played Prince Miller, a basketball star. From 2015 to 2021, Mehcad played James Olsen in the superhero series Supergirl. James Olsen is a photographer and later becomes the hero Guardian.
In 2017, Mehcad released his first song, "Tears Away." In 2019, it was announced that he would play Jax Briggs in the Mortal Kombat movie. This film was released in 2021. In June 2022, he joined the cast of Law & Order as Detective Jalen Shaw.
Personal Life
Mehcad Brooks is the son of former NFL football player Billy Brooks. He has mentioned that he enjoys playing video games. Some of his favorite games include Call of Duty and Madden. His older twin brother, Billy Brooks IV, is also involved in online entertainment.
