Melanie Ruth Daiken (born July 27, 1945, died June 25, 2016) was an amazing English composer and music teacher. She was born in London, England. Her mother was from Canada, and her father, Leslie Daiken, was a writer from Ireland with Russian-Jewish roots.
Becoming a Musician
Melanie started playing the violin when she was very young. She loved music and went on to study piano and how to compose music. She studied at some famous schools, including the Royal Academy of Music in London. She also learned a lot at the University of Ghana and the Paris Conservatoire in France. There, she had special teachers like Yvonne Loriod and Olivier Messiaen, who were very important in music.

After finishing her studies, Melanie Daiken became a teacher at the Royal Academy of Music. This was the same school where she had learned so much!
