Melinda Harper (born in 1965) is an Australian artist. She creates art that is abstract. This means her art doesn't show things exactly as they look in real life. Instead, she uses shapes, colors, and lines to express ideas or feelings.

Melinda uses many different ways to make her art. She draws, makes collages, takes photos, and even creates art on fabric using embroidery. Her artworks often feature bright colors, stripes, and cool geometric shapes.

Melinda's Early Life and Art Journey

Melinda Harper was born in Darwin, Northern Territory in 1965. When she was young, she visited the National Gallery of Australia. Seeing the amazing abstract art there really inspired her. It made her want to become an artist herself!

She then went to Prahran Art School to study painting. She earned a special degree called a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Her very first art show was held in Melbourne in 1987. It was at a gallery called Pinacotheca.

In 1989, Melinda helped start a special art space called Store 5. It was a place where artists could show their own work.

Melinda Harper's art has been shown in many places. One big exhibition was called Colour Sensation: The Works of Melinda Harper. It was held at the Heide Museum of Modern Art from June to October in 2015.
