Melody Thomas Scott (born Melody Ann Thomas on April 18, 1956) is an American actress. She started acting when she was a child. Her first big movie role was in the thriller film Marnie. Later, she appeared in other movies like The Beguiled (1971) and The Shootist (1976). In 1979, she began playing Nikki Newman on the CBS daytime soap opera, The Young and the Restless. She has been on the show for many years.

Early Life and Acting Beginnings
Melody Ann Thomas was born in Los Angeles, California. She began her acting career very young. Her first movie was the 1964 Alfred Hitchcock film Marnie. She also appeared on TV shows like My Three Sons and Wagon Train.
Melody had supporting roles in several films. These included the thriller The Beguiled (1971). She also acted in Western movies such as Posse (1975) and The Shootist (1976). In The Shootist, she shared a scene with the famous actor John Wayne.
In the late 1970s, Melody guest-starred on many popular TV series. Some of these were The Rockford Files and Charlie's Angels. She also had a recurring role on The Waltons. She appeared in horror films too, like The Car (1977), The Fury (1978), and Piranha (1978).
Starring in The Young and the Restless
In 1979, when she was 23, Melody took on the role of Nikki Reed. Nikki was a character from a poor background on the TV show The Young and the Restless. Melody chose this role over another TV show idea that didn't get made. She replaced the actress who played Nikki before her.
Over time, her character Nikki changed a lot. She became an important part of Genoa City society. Nikki married Victor Newman, played by Eric Braeden. Melody Thomas Scott has said that it's amazing for an actor to have a job for so many years. She feels very lucky. In 1999, she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
On February 19, 2019, The Young and the Restless had a special episode. It celebrated Melody Thomas Scott's 40 years on the show. In 2024, she received a special Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award. This award honors her long and successful career.

Melody Thomas Scott met her third husband, Edward J. Scott, on the set of The Young and the Restless. He was the show's executive producer. They got married in 1985. They have three daughters: Jennifer (Edward's daughter from a previous marriage), Alexandra, and Elizabeth. The family lives in Beverly Hills, California. Jennifer had twins, James and Charlotte, in 2011. These are Melody and Edward's first grandchildren.
