Memorial Falls are two beautiful waterfalls located close to the city of Munising in Michigan. These waterfalls are special because they are very similar and sit in two separate, narrow valleys called gorges. The taller waterfall drops about 40 feet (12 meters) down.

Exploring Memorial Falls

Memorial Falls are known for a few cool features. Behind both waterfalls, there is a small cave you can explore. Imagine standing behind the falling water!

Natural Arch

Between the two gorges, near the top of the falls, you can find a small natural arch. This arch is made of sandstone, shaped by nature over many years. It's a neat sight to see when you visit.

Water Levels

The amount of water flowing over Memorial Falls can change a lot. It depends on how much snow has melted or how much rain has fallen. Sometimes, the smaller of the two waterfalls might even be completely dry if there hasn't been much water.

Visiting the Falls

Memorial Falls are not as well-known or as busy as some other waterfalls in the area. This makes them a quieter place to visit. You can reach them by following a trail that starts from a street where people live, above the falls. Another trail leads you right down to the bottom of the waterfalls.

These falls are part of the Michigan Nature Association. This means they are protected so everyone can enjoy their natural beauty. Memorial Falls are also very close to another waterfall called Tannery Falls.
