The Meseta la Galera Natural Monument (which means La Galera Plateau Natural Monument in Spanish) is a special protected area in Venezuela. It's like a flat-topped mountain, also known as a tepuy, located in the Mérida region of the Andes mountains. This unique plateau is about 1 kilometer long.
It covers an area of 95 hectares (that's about 235 acres). Its highest point is 1055 meters above sea level, and its lowest point is 935 meters. The monument is right in the middle of the city of Tovar, separating it from the Mocotíes River and a hill called "Loma de La Virgen."
This beautiful natural spot is full of green plants and is considered an important "lung" for the city because it helps keep the air fresh. It was officially made a natural monument of Venezuela on June 5, 1992, by the president at the time, Carlos Andrés Pérez. It's a geological formation that was created by rivers a very long time ago, during the Quaternary period.
