Mesha K. Mainor, born on May 17, 1975, is an American politician. She served as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives for the 56th district. This means she helped make laws for her part of Georgia.

Growing Up and School
Mesha Mainor was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She is of African-American heritage. She went to Benjamin Elijah Mays High School.
After high school, she studied at Howard University. There, she earned a degree in Health Science. She also got a master's degree in physical therapy. As of 2023, Mesha Mainor was working on a higher degree. This was a doctorate in business administration.
Her Career
Mesha Mainor started her career in politics. She worked in Washington, D.C. with Congressman John Lewis. Later, she worked for a group called the United States Agency for International Development. This group helps with global health issues.
In 2000, she began working at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She was a speechwriter and a research analyst. She helped write speeches and reports for a top health official. Her work included preparing talks about public health. She also helped with radio and film projects.
In Atlanta, she worked in physical therapy. She held leadership roles at Emory Healthcare. She also worked at Children’s Hospital of Atlanta. She left Emory in 2019 to run for a local government position.
Mesha Mainor also created a program called the Junior Business League. This program teaches children about starting businesses. It also teaches them how to speak up for what they believe in.
Representing Her Community
As a member of the Georgia House, Mesha Mainor represented many neighborhoods. These included Midtown Atlanta and Atlantic Station. She also represented Vine City and West End. She represented the area where Martin Luther King Jr. lived.
Changing Political Parties
On July 11, 2023, Mesha Mainor announced a big change. She decided to leave the Democratic Party. She then joined the Republican Party.
News reports said there were disagreements between her and other Democrats. For example, she was the only Democrat to vote for a bill about school choice. This bill would help families use public money for private schools. She also supported a measure by Governor Brian Kemp. This measure was about how prosecutors are overseen.
Mesha Mainor ran for re-election in 2024. However, she was not re-elected. The Democratic candidate, Bryce Berry, won the election.
Her Family Life
Mesha Mainor has two daughters. They attend public schools in Fulton County. She is also an active member of a Baptist church.
