Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is an exciting video game, the fifth one in the famous Metal Gear series. It brought many cool new ways to play the game. For example, it was the first game where you could use camouflage to hide in your surroundings. This game is also special because it tells a story that happened before the other games. It introduces a character named Big Boss, who later becomes important as Solid Snake's former leader, enemy, and even his father.

The Story of Snake Eater

In 1964, the CIA sent a special agent named Naked Snake on a secret mission. Naked Snake is the person who later becomes known as Big Boss. His mission was to go to a hidden Soviet airbase.

Operation Virtuous

Snake's first task was to rescue a scientist named Sokolov. Sokolov had left the Soviet Union but was sent back. He was forced to build a powerful new weapon called the Shagohod. This was a huge tank that could fire nuclear missiles from almost anywhere! A dangerous Soviet officer named Volgin was in charge of this project. Volgin wanted to cause big trouble by destroying both the KGB (a Soviet spy agency) and the Western world.

Naked Snake was close to finishing his mission. But then, something shocking happened. His own teacher and mentor, a skilled soldier known as the Boss, betrayed him! She switched sides and joined the Soviet Union. Because of this, Snake's mission failed, and he had to return to America.

Operation Snake Eater

Just one week later, Naked Snake was sent back to the same Soviet base. This new mission was called Operation Snake Eater. This time, he had four very important goals:

  • First, he had to rescue Sokolov again.
  • Second, he needed to destroy the dangerous Shagohod weapon.
  • Third, he had to stop Volgin.
  • Finally, and perhaps the hardest task, he had to defeat the Boss and her special team of super-soldiers called the Cobra Unit.
