Metin Toker (1924 – 2002) was a well-known Turkish journalist and writer. He was famous for his articles and books about Turkish history and politics. He was also the son-in-law of İsmet İnönü, who was Turkey's second president.

Early Life and Family
Metin Toker was born in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1924. He went to Galatasaray High School. After that, he studied French language at Istanbul University and finished in 1948. He then traveled to France to study political science.
In 1955, he came back to Turkey. He married Özden İnönü. She was the daughter of İsmet İnönü, who served as Turkey's second president from 1938 to 1950.
Metin Toker passed away on July 18, 2002, in Ankara. He was buried in the Cebeci Asri Cemetery in Ankara. He was survived by his wife, his two daughters Gülsün and Nurperi, his son Güçlü, and his grandchild Maya.
His Work as a Journalist
While he was still in France, Metin Toker started writing for the newspaper Cumhuriyet. This is how he became known in journalism. From 1954 to 1968, he published his own political magazine called Akis, which means "Echo."
During this time, he sometimes faced legal challenges because of his articles. However, he continued to publish his magazine until 1968. After 1968, he started writing columns for the daily newspaper Milliyet.
Between 1977 and 1980, Metin Toker also served as a senator. In Turkey at that time, presidents could choose some senators. President Fahri Korutürk appointed him to this role. After the parliament was closed in 1980, he went back to being a journalist.
Books He Wrote
Metin Toker translated a famous novel called How Green Was My Valley by Richard Llewellyn into Turkish. The Turkish title was "Vadim O kadar Yeşildi ki".
He also wrote many of his own books. These books were mostly documentaries and memoirs. They told stories and shared his memories about Turkey's recent history. Some of his books include:
