Metzger is a small community in Washington County, Oregon, in the United States. It is called a census-designated place (CDP) because the government counts its population for official records. Metzger is also an unincorporated community, meaning it doesn't have its own city government.
Metzger is named after Herman Metzger, who helped plan the community. It's located near Portland, Oregon, and is considered one of its suburbs.

Metzger's Early Days
The community of Metzger was planned by Herman Metzger. He started selling land here between 1908 and 1909. Back then, the main train line of the Oregon Electric Railway went right through Metzger. There was even a train stop located near Locust Street and Jefferson. This made it easier for people to travel to and from the community.

Metzger is a small area, covering about 0.7 square miles (1.97 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water.
Right next to Metzger, on its west side, is Washington Square. This is a very large and popular shopping mall. A small stream called Ash Creek flows through Metzger from east to west. Another smaller creek joins Ash Creek at Metzger Park.
