Michael Bani began playing rugby league a bit later than some players. He first tried to become a professional basketball player.
Starting His Rugby League Career
When he was 21 years old, Michael started playing in club competitions in Queensland. His talent was noticed, and he was signed by the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles in 2007.
Playing in the NRL
Michael made his first appearance in the National Rugby League (NRL) for Manly in 2007. He played 20 games for the club and scored eight tries. In 2009, he moved to the North Queensland Cowboys. This was part of a player swap, where Ben Farrar went from the Cowboys to Manly.
Michael's contract with the Cowboys ended in 2011. He then signed with the Canberra Raiders for the 2012 season. Later, in 2014, he played for the Goulburn Workers team.
International Recognition
Michael Bani was also chosen to be part of the training squad for the Papua New Guinea national team. This was for the 2008 Rugby League World Cup, a big international tournament.
