Mickey Bradley's Music Career
Starting The Undertones
Mickey Bradley helped start the band The Undertones in 1976. They quickly became popular! Their very first song, "Teenage Kicks", was a huge hit. It even went "gold" in the UK, meaning it sold a lot of copies. A famous radio DJ named John Peel loved this song so much, he often said it was his favorite.
Big Hits and Reunions
The Undertones had another big song in 1980 called "My Perfect Cousin". This song reached number nine on the music charts in both the UK and Ireland. The band decided to stop playing together in 1983. But good news! In 1999, most of the original band members, including Mickey, got back together. Their first singer, Feargal Sharkey, did not join them. Mickey Bradley still plays and tours with The Undertones today!
Writing a Book
In 2016, Mickey Bradley wrote a book about his experiences. It's called Teenage Kicks: My Life as an Undertone. The book shares stories from his time with the band.
Mickey Bradley on the Radio
Besides playing music, Mickey Bradley also works in radio. He is a producer for BBC Radio Foyle. He used to host a show called "After Midnight with Mickey Bradley" on Radio Ulster. This show played music from the new wave and punk music eras.
Now, you can listen to "The Mickey Bradley Record Show" every Friday night on BBC Radio Ulster. Mickey talks about the songs he plays, and people can even join the conversation on Twitter!
Mickey Bradley's Life
Mickey Bradley was born in a city called Derry. He is married to Elaine Duffy, and they have four children.
When The Undertones took a break from music, Mickey worked as a Bicycle courier in a busy part of London called SoHo.
