Michael Reynolds, born on July 26, 1954, is an American author. He writes exciting books for young adults using the name Michael Grant. He has written more than 160 books! Many of these were written with his wife, Katherine Applegate.
Together, they created popular series like Animorphs and Everworld. They also wrote the Making Out series. Michael Grant is also the only author for several other series. These include the thrilling Gone series, the BZRK series, and the Messenger of Fear series. He also wrote the Front Lines trilogy. His book Gone is one of his most famous.
Michael Grant gets ideas and inspiration from many other writers. Some of these include Stephen King, Bill Bryson, J. R. R. Tolkien, and Raymond Chandler.
Michael Grant's Early Life
Michael Grant grew up in a military family. This meant his family moved around a lot. He went to ten different schools in five states in the U.S. He also attended three schools in France!
He decided to become a writer partly because it was a job that did not tie him to one place. He has lived in almost 50 homes across 14 states.
Grant has shared that his family was not wealthy when he was growing up. They lived in trailer parks. He left school when he was 15 years old. After that, he got a job at Toys R Us. He then traveled to Europe for three months.

Michael Grant lives in California with his wife, Katherine Applegate. They have two children together. They also have many pets! He currently lives in Tiburón, California.
