Steven Michael Hawkins, born on October 28, 1972, is a former professional basketball player from America. He played basketball for many teams around the world. This included teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Michael Hawkins: Basketball Star
High School and College Basketball
Michael Hawkins is a 6-foot-tall point guard. He played high school basketball at Canton McKinley High School. He graduated from there in 1991. His classmate, Eric Snow, also became an NBA player.
After high school, Hawkins played college basketball at Xavier University. He was part of the Xavier Musketeers team. He played for them from 1991 to 1995.
Professional Basketball Journey
Michael Hawkins was not chosen in the 1995 NBA draft. However, he later signed with the Boston Celtics in 1997. Over the next four years, he played for three other NBA teams. He finished his NBA career with his hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, in 2001.
Hawkins also played in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He played for the Rockford Lightning from 1995 to 1997 and again in the 1998–99 season. He also played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce during the 2000–01 and 2003–04 seasons. In 1997, he was chosen for the All-CBA Second Team. He also made the All-Defensive Team that same year.
Hawkins finished his professional club career with Al-Jalaa Aleppo. This team is part of the Syrian Basketball League.
Playing for Team USA
Hawkins also represented the USA national team. He played in the 1998 FIBA World Championship. Team USA won a bronze medal at that tournament. He also played for Team USA at the 1999 Pan American Games. There, he helped his team win a silver medal.
Life After Playing: Coaching
After retiring from playing professional basketball, Michael Hawkins became a coach. He now coaches in the Houston area. He works with a private coaching service called CoachUp.
