Michael Canning William John Keith (born February 22, 1939 – died October 30, 2004) was a Scottish nobleman. He held the title of the 13th Earl of Kintore.
He was also known as the 13th Lord Keith of Inverurie and Keith Hall. He held other titles like the 3rd Viscount Stonehaven and 3rd Baron Stonehaven. These titles allowed him to be a member of the House of Lords until 1999. He was also the 4th Baronet and 5th of Ury.

Early Life of Michael Keith
Michael Keith was born on February 22, 1939. He was the oldest son of Ian Keith, 12th Earl of Kintore. His mother was Delia Virginia Loyd.
Michael had an older sister named Lady Diana. He also had a younger brother, Hon. Alexander David Keith. His grandparents were important people. His paternal grandfather, John Baird, 1st Viscount Stonehaven, was a Governor-General of Australia. His paternal grandmother was Ethel Sydney Keith-Falconer, who was the 11th Countess of Kintore in her own right.
Michael Keith's Career and Achievements
Michael Keith went to school at Eton College. He also studied at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. He became a Lieutenant in the Coldstream Guards, which is a part of the British Army.
From 1989 until he passed away, he was the Chief of Clan Keith. This means he was the leader of the Keith family clan in Scotland.
In 1993, Aberdeen University gave him an honorary degree. It was a Doctor of Law (LL.D.) degree.
Ending an Old Clan Feud
On August 4, 2002, Lord Kintore did something special. As the chief of Clan Keith, he helped end a very old disagreement. This disagreement, or "feud," was with the nearby Clan Irvine.
The feud started a long time ago, in 1402. That's when the Irvines fought and defeated a group of Keiths. This happened at the Battle of Drumoak. To end the feud, Lord Kintore shook hands with David Irvine of Drum. David Irvine was the chief of Clan Irvine. They also signed a peace treaty.
Personal Life of Michael Keith
On October 9, 1972, Michael Keith married Mary Plum. She was born in 1943 and passed away in 2006. Mary was the only daughter of Squadron Leader Elisha Gaddis Plum. Her father died during World War II.
Michael and Mary had two children together:
- James William Falconer Keith, who became the 14th Earl of Kintore. He was born in 1976. James is now the chief of Clan Keith. He is married and has one son, Tristan Michael Keith, who was born in 2010. Tristan is the next in line to become the Earl of Kintore.
- Lady Iona Delia Mary Gaddis Keith, who was born in 1978. She married Mark Hopkins in 2008.
Lord Kintore passed away on October 30, 2004. His only son, James, took over his titles. Lady Kintore passed away on August 1, 2006.
