Michael Seater, born on January 15, 1987, is a talented Canadian actor, director, writer, and producer. He is well-known for his roles as Spencer Sharpe in The Zack Files and Lucas Randall in Strange Days at Blake Holsey High. Many fans also remember him as Derek Venturi in the popular show Life with Derek and Tom Bellow in 18 to Life. From 2009 to 2017, he also played the character James Gillies in the series Murdoch Mysteries.
Besides acting, Michael has also created his own movies. He wrote, directed, and helped produce two independent films: People Hold On (released in 2015) and Sadie's Last Days on Earth (released in 2016).

Early Life and Beginnings
Michael Seater grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He went to the Etobicoke School of the Arts, which is a special school for young artists. He started acting when he was a child.
Michael's Acting Journey
Starting Out in TV and Film
Michael began his acting career in the late 1990s. He appeared in many short films, movies made for home video, and TV movies. He also had roles in several television series.
In 2000, Michael lent his voice to the main character in the animated series Mattimeo: A Tale of Redwall. He then starred as Lucas Randall in the TV series Strange Days at Blake Holsey High, which aired from 2002 to 2006. In 2005, he was in the movie The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio, which featured famous actress Julianne Moore. Michael also had a recurring role as Owen in the series ReGenesis.
Becoming a Star on Life with Derek
Michael became very famous for playing Derek Venturi in the Canadian family sitcom Life with Derek. This show was a big hit with teenagers. He starred in the series from its start in 2005 until it ended in 2009. He appeared in 70 episodes over four seasons. Michael even helped write an episode for the fourth season with his brother, Graham.
After Life with Derek finished, Michael appeared in the movie Degrassi Goes Hollywood in 2009. In 2010, he starred in the CBC series 18 to Life. He also played the recurring role of James Gillies, a clever criminal, in the Canadian series Murdoch Mysteries.
From 2012 to 2013, Michael had a recurring role in the Canadian TV series Bomb Girls. He also appeared in Bomb Girls: Facing the Enemy, a TV movie based on the series.
Michael as a Filmmaker
Directing His Own Movies
In 2015, Michael Seater wrote and directed his first feature film, People Hold On. This movie was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for its original song. The film first showed at the Cinefest Sudbury International Film Festival in 2015.
In 2016, Michael wrote and directed his second feature film, Sadie's Last Days on Earth. This movie was released in theaters on December 9, 2016.
