Michelle Mitchenor is an American actress. She is best known for playing Detective Sonya Bailey in the TV show Lethal Weapon. She also starred as Jayla Wright in the series First Wives Club.

Early Life and Education
Michelle Mitchenor was born and grew up in Trenton, New Jersey. She loved to dance and act from a young age. She went to a special high school, the Ocean County Performing Arts Academy, to focus on her talents.
After high school, Mitchenor attended Towson University. There, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, which is a college degree for studying arts like dancing. She also studied at the famous Juilliard School in New York City. Before her big roles, she acted in shows made for the internet, called web-series.
Acting Career
In 2015, Michelle had her first role in a major movie. She appeared in Chi-Raq, a musical drama film directed by the famous filmmaker Spike Lee.
A year later, in 2016, she got a main role in the FOX television series Lethal Weapon. She played Detective Sonya Bailey in this action-comedy show. The show ended in 2019.
After Lethal Weapon, she starred in several movies. In 2019, she was in the thriller film Fanatic and the romantic comedy Always a Bridesmaid. In 2021, she joined the cast of the BET+ series First Wives Club as Jayla Wright.
In 2023, Mitchenor played the main character, Tonesa Welch, in the movie First Lady of BMF: The Tonesa Welch Story. This film is a biographical crime drama, which tells the life story of a real person.
