Michiana Shores is a small town in Indiana, United States. It is located in LaPorte County, near the border with Michigan. The town is part of the larger Michigan City, Indiana-La Porte, Indiana area. In 2020, about 306 people lived there.

The name "Michiana Shores" comes from the "Michiana" region. This area is found along the border between the states of Michigan and Indiana.

The town is right on the shore of Lake Michigan. It is just south of the Michigan state line. Michiana Shores is next to a town called Michiana, Michigan. It also shares a border with Long Beach, Indiana along the coast to the west.

History of Michiana Shores

The area where Michiana Shores is now was once a logging town. In the 1860s and 1870s, it was known as Corymbo. This town was home to lumberjacks and railroad workers. It even had a post office for a while.

Later, in the 1930s, the area became a vacation spot. Developers started building log cabins for people to enjoy. Many early visitors were schoolteachers from Chicago. Michiana Shores officially became a town in 1947.
