Early Life and Education

Michèle Reverdy was born in Alexandria, a city in Egypt. She loved music and decided to study it at a very famous school, the Conservatoire de Paris in France. There, she learned about music analysis from Claude Ballif and how to compose music from the legendary Olivier Messiaen.

Teaching Career

After finishing her studies, Michèle Reverdy started teaching at the same school where she learned. In 1983, she became a teacher of music analysis and orchestration. She taught there for many years and later retired as a Professor Emeritus, which means she was a highly respected professor.

Musical Journey and Achievements

Michèle Reverdy has had a very active career in music. From 1979 to 1981, she lived in Madrid, Spain, as a resident at the Casa de Velázquez. This is a place where artists and scholars can live and work. In 1993, she was the composer-in-residence at the Conservatory of Strasbourg Musica Festival, meaning she was a special guest composer there.

Radio Work and Awards

Michèle Reverdy also worked at Radio France as a producer from 1978 to 1992. She helped create radio programs about music. In 1995, she received a special Lifetime Achievement award from SACEM (Société des auteurs, compositeurs et éditeurs de musique). This award recognized her amazing contributions to music throughout her life. She has also written two books about her former teacher, Olivier Messiaen.
