Mickey Rose was a talented American writer who created funny stories and movie scripts. He was born on May 20, 1935, and passed away on April 7, 2013. He was best known for his work in comedy, especially for movies he wrote with his friend, Woody Allen.

The Life of Mickey Rose
Early Life and Friendship
Mickey Rose was born in Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, a neighborhood in New York City. He grew up there and in Crown Heights.
Mickey met Woody Allen when they were in high school. They became very close friends. They often skipped school together to play jazz music and baseball. They both went to New York University. Mickey earned a degree in film, but Woody Allen left college early. They stayed friends for their entire lives.
Writing for the Big Screen
Mickey Rose started his writing career helping the ventriloquist Shari Lewis. He wrote material for her famous sock-puppet, Lamb Chop.
Later, Mickey worked with Woody Allen on comedy routines. They also helped adapt a Japanese spy film into a movie called What's Up, Tiger Lily? (1966). This was Woody Allen's first movie as a director.
Mickey and Woody continued to work together on more films. They wrote the comedies Take the Money and Run (1969) and Bananas. Mickey also wrote other movie scripts, including I Wonder Who's Killing Her Now? (1975) and Student Bodies (1981). He even directed Student Bodies.
TV Comedy King
After his early work with Woody Allen, Mickey Rose became a successful TV comedy writer. He wrote for many famous comedians.
He wrote for Johnny Carson when Carson hosted The Tonight Show. Mickey also wrote for Dean Martin on The Dean Martin Show in 1973. He worked with Sid Caesar in 1963. Mickey also wrote for the Smothers Brothers and the popular show All in the Family.
Family Life
Mickey Rose married Judy Wolf in 1963. Woody Allen and his first wife, Harlene Rosen, introduced them. Woody Allen was Mickey's best man at their wedding.
In 1970, Mickey, his wife, and their children moved to Southern California. Mickey and Judy were married until she passed away in 2003. Mickey Rose died on April 7, 2013, at his home in Beverly Hills, California. He was survived by his daughter, Jennifer, his son, Quincy, and two grandchildren. His son, Quincy Rose, is also a writer and filmmaker today.
