Mid and West Wales facts for kids
Mid and West Wales is a way to describe a large area in Wales. It's not always defined the same way, but it usually includes the old areas of Dyfed and Powys. Sometimes, parts of Swansea or even Gwynedd are also included. People often use this name instead of saying "Mid Wales" and "South West Wales" separately.
This region is important for some public services. For example, there's a special police force called Dyfed-Powys Police and a fire service called Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service that cover this area.
The area is also used for choosing members of the Senedd, which is the Welsh Parliament. It's called the Mid and West Wales electoral region. This region helps elect extra members to the Senedd alongside the smaller local areas. There was also a similar region for the European Parliament from 1979 to 1999.
