Midridge is a small place located in northeastern Shannon County, Missouri, in the United States. It is known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and buildings that doesn't have its own separate local government like a city or town. Midridge is found on a county road, about sixteen miles northeast of the town of Eminence.
A Look at Midridge's Past
Midridge once had its own post office. This post office first opened in 1931. It served the community by helping people send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for many years before it finally closed in 1964.
How Midridge Got Its Name
The community of Midridge was given its name because of its special location. It is situated "midway across a ridge." A ridge is a long, narrow raised section of land, like a small mountain range. So, the name simply describes where the community is found.
