A Look at Mier y Noriega's History
Mier y Noriega became a municipality in the year 1849. It was named after a famous person from Monterrey named Servando Teresa de Mier Noriega y Guerra. He was important because he helped create the Mexican Constitution of 1824, which is like a rulebook for the country.
The first people to settle here from other countries arrived in the late 1800s. They were farmers who grew a plant called agave. However, it's important to know that people who were native to the land lived there even before these farmers arrived.
