Mighty Morphin Power Rangers the Album: A Rock Adventure is a music album from the TV show Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It was released in the US on December 1, 1994. In the UK, it was called Power Rangers the Album: A Rock Adventure and came out on December 13, 1994.
The songs on the album were mostly performed by Ron Wasserman. He used the names "Aaron Waters" or "The Mighty RAW" for this project. The album was available on CD and cassette.
About the Album
This album was special because it told a story through its songs. This is known as a concept album. Most of the songs followed a loose story. They even used sound clips and voices from Power Rangers TV episodes.
The Story in the Music
The album's story was inspired by the TV show. It included parts about Lord Zedd arriving. It also mentioned Rita Repulsa leaving for a short time. However, the story in the album was a bit different from the show. For example, it didn't mention the Thunderzords.
Some parts of the album used real dialogue from the show. For instance, Tommy Oliver's lines in "Go Green Ranger Go" came from the episode "The Green Candle, Part II." The next song, "5-4-1," also used dialogue from that episode. In it, Zordon sends the Rangers to help Tommy.
Another example is before the song "Lord Zedd." You hear Rita arguing with her monsters. Goldar's line was changed for the album. Instead of "Rita, get us out of here," he says, "Lord Zedd, the true Emperor, has returned." The album's story ends with Pirantishead being defeated by the original Ultrazord. This is different from the TV show.
Special Songs
The album was made before the White Ranger appeared on the show. So, new voices were recorded for the song "White Ranger Tiger Power." Bob Manahan (as Zordon) and Richard Steven Horvitz (as Alpha 5) recorded these lines. Zordon says the White Ranger is "the future you are seeing."
The UK version of the album had an extra song. It was a dance remix of "Power Rangers." This remix was produced by Simon Cowell. It also included the new Zordon and Alpha 5 dialogue. This song was released as a single. A music video was made using clips from the first season of the show. It was even shown on the TV show "Top of the Pops" in the UK.
Fans of Power Rangers still really like this album. Later, more Power Rangers albums were released. But they were just regular TV and movie soundtracks. They did not tell a story like this one.
