Mignon is a small community located in Talladega County, Alabama, in the United States. It is known as a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it's an area identified by the U.S. Census Bureau for collecting statistics, even though it's not an officially incorporated town. In 2020, about 1,186 people lived in Mignon.

History of Mignon

Mignon first became an official town around 1915. This was noted in the 1920 U.S. Census. However, by the 1930s, it stopped being an incorporated town. This means it either gave up its town status or lost its official charter.

Because of this, Mignon did not appear on the 1940 U.S. Census as an incorporated place. But it was still a large community. In 1950, about 3,000 people lived there. So, from 1950 to 1970, it was listed as an unincorporated community in the census. Starting in 1980, Mignon was given the new status of a "census-designated place" (CDP).
