Helping the Community
Besides painting, Miguel Jaume y Bosch was also involved in his community. He worked as the secretary for Jose Pedro Varela. Varela was an important person who created the 1877 Law of Common Education. This law made education available to more children in Uruguay.
Miguel Jaume y Bosch also led a group that helped immigrants. This group specifically supported people from the Balearic Islands in Spain, who were looking for jobs in Uruguay.
