Michael Edward Green, born on June 23, 1985, is an American who used to play professional basketball. He was a talented player who played for two different colleges, Towson and Butler, before becoming a pro.
High School Days
Mike Green started his basketball journey at Franklin Learning Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is where he played high school basketball.
College Career
Mike played college basketball for Butler University from 2006 to 2008. He was a star player there. In his senior year (2007–2008), he led his team in points, rebounds, and assists. Because of his amazing performance, he was named the Horizon League men's basketball player of the year.
Professional Journey
Even though Mike wasn't picked in the 2008 NBA draft, he still got a chance to play. He joined the Philadelphia 76ers for the Orlando Pro Summer League in 2010. Later, he played with the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA Summer League.
Mike's professional career took him all over the world. He played for teams in different countries:
- He started with Antalya Büyükşehir Belediyesi in Turkey.
- Then he moved to Liege in Belgium.
- After that, he played for Cantù in Italy.
In 2011, Mike signed with Sigma Barcellona in Italy's Second Division. The next year, in 2012, he joined Cimberio Varese, another Italian team.
In 2013, Mike signed a two-year deal with BC Khimki, a team from Russia. He left Khimki in 2014. That same year, he signed with Paris-Levallois in France.
In 2015, Mike returned to Italy to play for Reyer Venezia Mestre in the Lega Basket Serie A.
In 2016, Mike signed with Best Balıkesir in Turkey. Later that year, he moved to another Turkish team, Pınar Karşıyaka. While playing for Karşıyaka, he was named the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the Round of 16 in the Basketball Champions League.
On August 2, 2017, Mike signed with AEK Athens in Greece. This was a very successful time for him! With AEK, he helped his team win the Greek Basketball Cup in 2018. On May 6, 2018, Mike Green and AEK also won the FIBA Champions League title. He was even named the Basketball Champions League Final Four MVP after scoring 19 points in the final game!
Mike continued his career playing for SIG Strasbourg in France (2018–2019) and Igokea in Bosnia and Herzegovina (2019–2020) before ending his professional career.
