George Michael Mukula, known as Mike Mukula, is a Ugandan businessman, politician, and pilot. He served as a representative for Soroti Municipality in the Ugandan Parliament. This was from 1996 until 2016. He owns many companies that are part of the Mukula Group of Companies. Mr. Mukula is also a member of Uganda's ruling political party, the National Resistance Movement. He currently holds an important position as the Vice Chairman for the Eastern Region within this party.

Early Life and Education
Where Mike Mukula Grew Up
Mike Mukula was born in Soroti, Teso sub-region in the Eastern Region of Uganda. His birthday is on August 27, 1956. He went to local schools in Uganda when he was young.
His Journey to Becoming a Pilot
Later, he was accepted into the Kenya School of Flying. This school is located at Wilson Airport in Nairobi, Kenya. He finished his pilot training in the United States.
Advanced Studies and Degrees
From 2000 to 2001, he attended the IDF Military Colleges. There, he studied and graduated in Counterterrorism. He was also a fellow at Harvard Kennedy School from 2004 to 2005. His studies there focused on political and economic reforms in government. In 2005, he earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Nkumba University. He received an honorary doctorate degree in 2009. This was from the Latin University of Theology in Torrance, California, USA.
Career in Politics
From Aviation to Public Service
Mike Mukula started his career in aviation. However, in the mid-1990s, he decided to enter politics. He successfully ran for the parliamentary seat in Soroti Municipality in 1996.
Serving in Parliament and Government
He was re-elected to Parliament several times. He won elections in 2001, 2006, and 2011. From 2001 to 2006, he served as the state minister for health. This meant he helped lead the country's health programs.
Continuing His Political Role
In May 2015, he announced that he would retire from running for elected office. This retirement became effective in March 2016. However, he still plays an active role in politics. He continues to serve as the National Resistance Movement Vice Chairman for the Eastern Region.
Personal Life
Mike Mukula is married and has four children. He is a member of the National Resistance Movement political party.
