Mikele "Miki" Ronisse Barber was born on October 4, 1980. She is an amazing American sprinter. A sprinter is a runner who specializes in short, fast races. Mikele has won many important medals in her career.

She earned a gold medal in the 4 × 100 meters relay race at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics. This big event took place in Osaka, Japan. She also won an individual gold medal in the 100 meters race at the 2007 Pan Am Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Mikele has a twin sister named Me'Lisa Barber. Me'Lisa is also a talented runner. Both sisters have won relay medals in major world competitions.

Mikele Barber's Early Career

Mikele Barber showed her talent early on. She ran for the South Carolina Gamecocks track and field team. This is the sports team for the University of South Carolina.

College Success

While running for the Gamecocks, Mikele achieved a big win. In 2001, she helped her team win the 4 × 400 meter relay at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships. This was a major college championship event.
