Mikhail Mikhailovich Kokshenov (born September 16, 1936, in Moscow – died June 4, 2020, in Krasnogorsky District, Moscow Oblast) was a famous Soviet and Russian actor. He also worked as a film director and screenwriter. He was recognized as a People's Artist of Russia in 2002.

Biography
Mikhail Kokshenov was born in Moscow on September 16, 1936. He spent his early years in the Zamoskvorechye District. His parents had lived in the Russian Far East before he was born. They lived in a village called Monomakhovo.
In 1957, Mikhail finished the Moscow Industrial College. He then worked as an engineer for a while. Later, in 1963, he graduated from the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute. This is a famous acting school.
After his studies, he started working as an actor. He performed at the Mayakovsky Theatre. In 1966, he moved to the Moscow Theater of Miniatures. Around this time, he also began acting in movies. By 1974, he joined the Theater-Studio of the Film Actor. He also wrote a book about his life called "Oranges, Vitamins..." in 2000.
Mikhail Kokshenov's Career in Film
Mikhail Kokshenov acted in over 100 films. He was often cast in funny roles. He usually played characters who were a bit silly or simple. These roles made him very popular.
In the early 1990s, he started directing films too. He made more than ten movies, mostly comedies. These films were sometimes called "cooperative cinema." He often acted in his own films. His most well-known movies as a director are Russian Business and Russian Miracle. In these films, he tried playing different kinds of characters. He sometimes played a smart, tough "new Russian."
In the early 2000s, he appeared in commercials. He played a "master on call" for a company that fixed home appliances. He was in three different commercials. In one, he fixed a TV and a microwave. In another, he repaired a refrigerator and a washing machine. In the third, he worked on fixing apartments.
Later Life and Passing
In October 2017, Mikhail Kokshenov became unwell. He was taken to a hospital in Moscow. He was later moved to another hospital for special care. By January 2018, he was able to leave the hospital. After this, he did not appear in public very often.
In October 2019, he went to the hospital again for a leg injury. Doctors helped him, and he was able to go home.
For several months, he stayed in a private center for rehabilitation. Due to the quarantine, his family could not visit him in person. They talked to him using video calls. His wife, ex-wife, and friends supported him. On June 3, 2020, he had heart problems and was moved to intensive care. He passed away on the evening of June 4, 2020, due to heart failure.
Mikhail Kokshenov died in 2020 from complications related to COVID-19. His farewell ceremony was held on June 7. His ashes were buried at the Novodevichy Cemetery.
