Milan Čič (born January 2, 1932 – died November 9, 2012) was an important Slovak lawyer and politician. He served as the leader, or Prime Minister, of the Slovak Socialist Republic from 1989 to 1990.

Early Life and Education
Milan Čič was born in a place called Zákamenné in what was then Czechoslovakia. He studied law and became a professor. He taught law at Comenius University in Bratislava, which is a very well-known university.
Becoming a Politician
Milan Čič started his political career in 1961. He joined the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. He was a member of this party until 1990.
Leading the Government
In December 1989, Milan Čič became the Prime Minister. He led the government of the Slovak Socialist Republic. This was a very important time in history. He served in this role until June 1990.
Later Career as a Judge
After his time as Prime Minister, Milan Čič continued his work in law. In 1993, he was chosen to be a judge. He worked at the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic. This court makes sure that laws follow the country's constitution. Soon after, he became the President of this important court.
