Millbrook Resort is a fancy place to stay near Queenstown, in New Zealand. It's about 4 kilometers west of Arrowtown, a historic town famous for gold mining. Long ago, people dug for gold there!
The resort covers a huge area of 650 acres. This land is part of the Wakatipu Basin, which is a valley carved out by glaciers. It's surrounded by amazing mountains like the Crown Range and the Remarkables, plus the beautiful Lake Wakatipu.
Millbrook Resort has lots of cool things to do. There are five restaurants and a café where you can eat. You can also relax at the spa or play golf on the big 36-hole golf course. The Ishii family owns Millbrook, making it a private resort.
Important Meeting at Millbrook
In 1995, something very important happened at Millbrook. It hosted a big meeting for leaders from countries that are part of the Commonwealth of Nations. The Commonwealth is a group of countries that used to be connected to the British Empire. They work together on things like democracy and peace.
The leaders met to create a plan for how the Commonwealth should work. They wanted to make sure all member countries followed certain rules, especially about how they govern their people. This plan was called the "Millbrook Declaration." It was agreed upon and announced on November 12, 1995.
