Millheim is a small, unincorporated community. It is located in Cinque Hommes Township within Perry County, Missouri, in the United States.
What's in a Name?
The name Millheim probably comes from the German word Müllheim. This word means 'mill home'. One idea is that the community was named after a mill built there. It's also possible the name came from a city in Germany. Or, it could be one of the German names brought by settlers who moved to Perry County.
A Look Back in Time
A well-known mill was built in the area of Millheim as early as 1856. Rudolph Conrad and Mike Eddleman built this mill. Later, in 1891, a post office was opened in the community.
