Milligan is a ghost town located in San Bernardino County, California. It is an abandoned settlement, meaning no one lives there anymore. You can find Milligan along Cadiz Road. Its exact location is 34.2766750 latitude and -115.1702567 longitude.

What Happened to Milligan?

Milligan was once a small community. It was located right next to a railroad siding. This is a short track where trains could stop or switch. The Arizona and California Railroad used this siding.

Mining in the Area

In the 1930s, a place called the Lucky Jim Mine was active near Milligan. Miners there dug for silver and copper ore. This ore was then sent by train to Douglas, Arizona. There, it was processed to get the metals out.

Why It's a Ghost Town

Today, almost nothing is left of the original settlement. Most of the buildings and signs of life are gone. Like many mining towns, when the mine closed or ran out of ore, people moved away. This left Milligan as a ghost town.

The Old Cemetery

There is an old, abandoned cemetery in Milligan. It has 11 graves that do not have names or markers. This shows that people once lived and worked in this remote area.
