Mindaugas Žukauskas is a famous basketball player from Lithuania. He was born on August 24, 1975, in Šiauliai. He played as a small forward and was known for his great skills on the court. Mindaugas was also the captain of the Lithuanian national basketball team. After he stopped playing professionally, he became a manager for BC Šiauliai, one of his former teams.

Playing Career Highlights

Mindaugas Žukauskas had a long and successful career in basketball. He played for many different teams in several countries.

Starting in Lithuania

Mindaugas began his professional journey in 1995 with BC Šiauliai in his hometown. After two years, he moved to BC Žalgiris, a very well-known team in Lithuania. With Žalgiris, he won the LKL championship twice, in 1998 and 1999. He also helped them win the Saporta Cup in 1998 and the NEBL championship in 1999. The biggest win with Žalgiris was the Euroleague championship in 1999, which is one of the most important basketball tournaments in Europe.

Playing in Europe

After his time in Lithuania, Mindaugas played for teams in other European countries.

  • He played for Ljubljana Olimpija in Slovenia from 2000 to 2001. There, he won the Slovenian Cup and the Slovenian Basketball League championship in 2001.
  • From 2001 to 2006, he was a key player for Siena Montepaschi in Italy. With this team, he won the Italian Basketball League (Lega Basket) championship in 2004 and the Italian Cup in the same year.
  • He then joined Pesaro Scavolini in Italy, playing there from 2006 to 2009.

Returning Home

Mindaugas returned to BC Šiauliai in 2009, where he played for three more years until 2012. This was a great way to finish his impressive career where it all started.

International Success

Mindaugas Žukauskas also had a fantastic career playing for the Lithuanian national team.

Olympic Medalist

He was part of the Lithuanian team that won a bronze medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. This was a huge achievement for him and his country.

European Champion

One of his most memorable moments was winning the gold medal at Eurobasket 2003 in Sweden. He was a vital player for the Lithuanian team that became European champions that year.
