Biography
Minnie Hollow Wood's husband, Hollow Wood, was a Cheyenne man. He also fought bravely at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Both Minnie and Hollow Wood later surrendered to Colonel Nelson A. Miles. This happened at Fort Keogh in Montana in 1877.
Minnie Hollow Wood lived on the Cheyenne reservation in Montana. She shared her stories with a writer named Thomas Bailey Marquis. Marquis was an ethnologist, meaning he studied different cultures and peoples.

Minnie Hollow Wood's story was made into an animated short film. The film is called Minnie's War Bonnet. It was created by Yvonne Russo. This film was first shown at the Red Nation International Film Festival in 2019.
