History of the Church
This church was first built in 1809. Back then, it was known as a Congregational church. Over the years, the church has been updated many times to make it better for the people who use it.
Improvements Over the Years
In 1884, the inside of the church was made much nicer. They also added heating, which cost about £470 at the time. That was a lot of money back then! The church got more updates in 1906. Later, in 1946, electricity was put in, making it much brighter. In 1975, they added running water and even a kitchen. This made the church more modern and useful for its community.
What Does the Church Look Like?
The church is built from brick and has a roof made of tiles. It has four sections, called bays, and a front porch.
Special Features of the Building
On the sides of the church, you can see windows with two parts, separated by a stone bar called a mullion. On the north side, there is one original window with a special "Y" shape in its design. The pointed parts of the roof, called gables, have round decorations on top.
Inside the Church
Inside, the lower part of the walls has wooden panels made of pine. This is called wainscotting. Above the wood, the walls are smooth and plastered. At the front of the church, there is an organ. In front of the organ, there is a U-shaped rail where people can take communion.
