The Miracle Mile Historic District is a special area in Tucson, Arizona. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2017. This means it's an important place with a lot of history. You can find it on North Stone Avenue, Drachman Street, Oracle Road, and Miracle Mile.

A Busy Gateway

The Miracle Mile Historic District is north of downtown Tucson. It was once a very important road for travelers. In the middle of the 1900s, this area was known as "Miracle Mile." It was like the main entrance to Tucson for people driving across the country.

This historic district follows several main roads. These include Stone Avenue, Drachman Street, Oracle Road, and Miracle Mile. Part of Main Avenue is also included. It has old trucking warehouses and shops. Flores Street has many small motels.

Buildings from the Past

Most of the buildings in the district were built between 1920 and 1963. They show what life was like when cars became very popular. These buildings are important because they tell a story about travel and car culture.

The Miracle Mile Historic District includes 102 different properties. Many of these have several buildings. In total, there are 279 individual items. These include 215 buildings, 1 site, 34 structures, and 29 objects. Most of these, 258, help tell the story of the district.

Historic Highways

Two important highways run through the Miracle Mile Historic District. Parts of Stone Avenue, Drachman Street, and Oracle Road are part of Historic U.S. Route 80. The West Miracle Mile section is part of Arizona State Route 77. These roads were key travel routes in the past.

The district includes important buildings like the Tucson Inn from 1953. It also features the African American Beau Brummel Club. These places show the diverse history of the area.
