Miriam-Teak Lee, born on November 1, 1994, is a talented actress from England. She is famous for playing Juliet in the musical & Juliet. For this role, she won a big award called the Laurence Olivier Award in 2020. This award is like an Oscar for theatre! She also performed in the popular musical Hamilton.
Early Life and Training
Miriam-Teak has four brothers, including her older brother, Dex Lee. They both loved performing. She and Dex went to The Latymer School, Morgan Aslanoff School of Dance, and the Arts Educational School. These schools helped her learn acting and dancing. They often danced together as partners in competitions.
Her Acting Journey
After finishing school, Miriam-Teak started her acting career on the London stage. Her first big role was in the musical On the Town in 2017. This show was performed at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre.
Just two months later, she made her debut in London's famous West End. She joined the original London cast of Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical Hamilton. In Hamilton, she was part of the ensemble. She also learned the main roles of Eliza Hamilton, Angelica Schuyler Church, and Peggy Schuyler, ready to step in if needed.
In 2019, Miriam-Teak was chosen for a very special role. She played the main character, Juliet, in the musical & Juliet. This show uses popular songs to tell a new story about Juliet from Shakespeare's play. She first performed it in Manchester, then brought it to the Shaftesbury Theatre in London's West End. Critics loved her performance. She won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for this role.
