Dex Lee (born on May 16, 1993) is an English actor. He is well-known for playing Bear Sylvester in the BBC TV show Doctors. Before joining Doctors, Dex Lee performed in many professional stage shows. He also worked as a dance teacher part-time.
Early Life and Dance
Dex Lee was born in Edmonton, London, on May 16, 1993. He has a younger sister, Miriam-Teak Lee, and four brothers. Dex and his sister both went to The Latymer School, Morgan Aslanoff School of Dance, and Arts Educational School (ArtsEd). They were dance partners and often competed together. After finishing his studies at ArtsEd in 2014, Dex Lee taught dance in Chiswick.
Acting Career
Dex Lee started his acting journey on stage. From 2012 to 2013, he was a dancer in a show called Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In 2014, he made his acting debut in In the Heights at the Southwark Playhouse. He also performed in The Scottsboro Boys in London's West End.
In 2016, Dex Lee had a special role in a play called Father Comes Home from the Wars. He played a dog named Odyssey. A reviewer from A Younger Theatre said that Dex Lee was amazing in this role. They mentioned how he truly acted like a dog without being silly. His voice work was also praised for showing the dog's feelings.
In 2017, he appeared in another West End show, The Wild Party. A reviewer described his performance as "full of confidence." Dex Lee continued to act in stage shows until 2019. At that point, he decided he wanted to try acting on television.
Soon after, he got a role in the BBC soap opera Doctors. A soap opera is a TV show that tells ongoing stories about the lives of many characters. Dex Lee started filming Doctors on June 26, 2019. His first appearance as Bear Sylvester was on November 18, 2019.
