Mitchell Squire (born in 1958) is an American artist who creates amazing art installations, sculptures, and performances. He was born in Natchez, Mississippi. Squire is a professor at Iowa State University and lives in Ames, Iowa. His artwork is so important that it's featured in big art places like the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
One of his famous artworks, called "Gladiators," is a large print. At first glance, it might look like fancy perfume bottles. But if you look closer, you'll see that the shapes are actually targets used for shooting practice. This makes you think about serious topics and how things aren't always what they seem. Another one of his art pieces uses paper targets from shooting ranges, covered in bullet holes, to make people think.
Mitchell Squire studied architecture at Iowa State University, earning both his bachelor's and master's degrees there.
