Mitsuhiro Toda (戸田 光洋, Toda Mitsuhiro, born September 10, 1977) is a former Japanese football player. He is also a coach today. His younger brother, Takayoshi Toda, was also a football player.

Mitsuhiro Toda's Football Journey

Mitsuhiro Toda was born in Miyakonojo, Japan, on September 10, 1977. He loved football from a young age. After finishing his studies at the University of Tsukuba, he joined the professional football world.

Starting with FC Tokyo

In 2000, Toda joined FC Tokyo, a club in the top Japanese league, J1 League. He started as a forward, often coming into games as a substitute. This means he would come off the bench to play.

By the middle of 2002, he became a regular player. He played as a left midfielder. In 2003, he had a fantastic year. He played in all 40 official matches for his team. He also scored 11 goals that season.

Winning the J.League Cup

In 2004, Mitsuhiro Toda and FC Tokyo made history. They won the 2004 J.League Cup. This was the first major trophy the club had ever won! It was a very exciting time for the team and their fans.

Challenges and Moving On

In 2006, Toda faced a challenge. He broke his leg before the season started. This injury meant he played less often.

In 2007, he moved to a new team, Shimizu S-Pulse. He tried playing in a different position, as a right side back. However, injuries continued to affect him. He could not play many matches during his two seasons with Shimizu S-Pulse.

Retirement from Playing

Mitsuhiro Toda decided to retire from playing football at the end of the 2008 season. He had played in 152 league matches and scored 21 goals during his career. After retiring as a player, he continued his involvement in football as a coach.
