Mittweida is a town in the German state of Saxony. It is located in the eastern part of Germany. Mittweida is also the main town of the Mittelsachsen district.

History of Mittweida
The town of Mittweida was first established in the 13th century. This means it is over 800 years old! Over time, it became a very important place for making textiles. Textiles are fabrics and clothes. Mittweida was one of the biggest centers for textile production in Saxony.
Mittweida University of Applied Sciences
Mittweida is home to a well-known university. It is called the Mittweida University of Applied Sciences. This university started in the late 1800s. Today, about 5,000 students attend classes there.
Many famous people have studied at this university. These include:
- August Horch: He was a pioneer in the car industry. He founded the Audi company.
- Walter Bruch: He was a German electrical engineer. He helped develop color television.
- Jørgen Skafte Rasmussen: He was a Danish engineer and industrialist. He founded the DKW car and motorcycle company.
- Gerhard Neumann: He was an engineer who worked on jet engines.
