MoKenStef was an American R&B music group made up of three young women. They were from Los Angeles, California. The group was active from 1994 to 2000.
Their name, MoKenStef, came from the first part of each member's name. The members were Monifa Bethune, Kenya Hadley, and Stefanie Sinclair.
Their Music and Big Hits
In 1995, MoKenStef released their first album, called Azz Izz. Their most popular song was "He's Mine". This song became a big hit, reaching number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 music chart in the United States. It also appeared on the UK Singles Chart in the United Kingdom for one week in September 1995.
The group also planned to release another song called "Baby Come Close". This song was a new version of an old song by Smokey Robinson. They even made a music video for it. However, this song was only released for promotion and was never sold to the public.
MoKenStef performed their hit song "He's Mine" on several TV shows in 1995. They appeared on Soul Train, All That, and Video Soul.
What Happened After Azz Izz
In 1996, MoKenStef had a song called "Jock'n Me" on the soundtrack for the movie Phat Beach. Later, in 1999, they released another song called "He Say She Say". This song was meant to promote an album by another artist, Cool Dre. But it was not very successful.
The group officially stopped making music together in 2000. However, MoKenStef got back together in 2014. You can find their Instagram page if you search for "Therealmokenstef".
