Mocoa is an important city in Colombia. It is the capital city of the Putumayo area. The city is also known as "The Head of Putumayo."
Mocoa is located in the northwest part of the Putumayo department. It shares borders with the Nariño and Cauca departments.
On March 31, 2017, Mocoa faced a very difficult event. Heavy rains caused large landslides, which are like huge mudslides. This natural disaster sadly caused many people to lose their lives and homes. The community worked hard to recover and rebuild after this event.
