Monica "Dr. Moe" Frazier Anderson (born October 16, 1962) is an American author, journalist, and motivational speaker. She is also a dentist. People often call her "Dr. Moe".

Dr. Moe's Early Life and Education

Dr. Anderson was born in Houston, Texas. Her family moved to Fort Worth, Texas when she was three years old. After finishing high school at O.D. Wyatt High School, she went to Baylor University.

At Baylor, she earned a degree in biology in 1984. A friend at Baylor gave her the nickname "Moe." This happened because he found it hard to remember how to say her first name, Monica.

While at Baylor, she joined the Zeta Phi Beta sorority. Her grandmother and mother had also been members. She then went to dental school at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. She became a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1988. After this, her friends started calling her "Dr. Moe."

Dr. Moe's Career Journey

In 1988, Dr. Anderson started working as a dentist in Minnetonka, Minnesota. The next year, she began writing a column for a sports magazine. This magazine was called Minnesota Vikings Update.

Writing and Journalism

Dr. Anderson's first book was Black English Vernacular: From Ain’t to Yo Mama. It was a dictionary of African American Vernacular English. Rainbow Books published it in 1994.

From 1996 to 2004, she wrote a weekly column for the Star-Telegram. This is a big newspaper in Texas. Her second book, Mom, Are We There Yet?, is a collection of some of these columns. Being a journalist helped her get a chance to host a TV show. The show was called Perpetual Moe-tion on AT&T cable. This also helped her start her career as a professional speaker.

Publishing and Bestsellers

Dr. Anderson started her own publishing company, TyMAC Books. In 2005, she published When A Sistah’s FED UP. This book became a bestseller for Essence Magazine and the Dallas Morning News.

Her next novel, I Stand Accused, also became a Dallas Morning News bestseller in 2007. Her fifth book, Sinphony, came out in 2011. In 2014, she released a self-help book called Success Is A Side Effect. Her seventh book, Never Close Your Heart, was published in 2020.

Speaking and Podcasting

Dr. Anderson often gives speeches at big events and company meetings. She also hosts a podcast called "Perpetual mOetion with Dr. mOe Anderson." You can listen to it on many platforms. The podcast talks about family, current events, health, and how to improve yourself.

Awards and Community Work

Many groups, government offices, and schools have honored Dr. Anderson. They recognize her for her leadership in the community. In 1995, the Fort Worth Independent School District gave her the "Distinguished Alumni" award.

In 1999, the Fort Worth Weekly newspaper staff named her "The Best Columnist in Tarrant County." She also received the Millennium Award in 2001. This award was for her "Outstanding Contribution to Healthcare" from Altrusa International, Inc. In the same year, Baylor University gave her the "Outstanding Young Alumni Award."

Dr. Anderson was chosen for the American Dental Association's Diversity in Leadership Program. She studied business for a year. After this, she was encouraged to start a community service project. She has always volunteered in her home state of Texas.

In 2011, the Texas House of Representatives gave her the Congressional Black Caucus Outstanding Community Volunteer award. This was for her volunteer work while living in Austin, Texas. Today, she continues to write, speak, and work as a certified Dental Consultant. She splits her time between Austin, Texas, and the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
