Moheener Ghoraguli was a very important and unique music group from Bengal. They were one of the first independent bands in India. They started playing music in 1976 and became famous for their special songs.
The band was active for a few years, from 1976 to 1981. Later, some members came together again between 1995 and 1999. They are remembered for their deep and meaningful song lyrics. Many of their albums were "concept albums," which means all the songs on an album were connected by a single idea or story.

The Story of Moheener Ghoraguli
Moheener Ghoraguli formed in Kolkata, India. The original members were Gautam Chattopadhyay, Biswanath Chattopadhyay, Pradip Chattopadhyay, Ranjon Ghoshal, Abraham Mazumdar, Tapas Das, and Tapesh Bandopadhyay. They created a new sound by mixing Bengali folk music with rock and jazz.
How They Got Their Name
The band's name, "Moheener Ghoraguli," is quite interesting. It comes from a poem called "Ghora" (which means 'Horses'). This poem was written by a famous Bengali poet named Jibanananda Das. The name gives a hint about their artistic and thoughtful style of music.
Their Unique Music Style
Moheener Ghoraguli was known for its different approach to music. Instead of just making a collection of songs, they often created concept albums. This made their music feel like a complete journey for the listener. Their songs often explored themes about life in Kolkata and other deep ideas.
Important Albums and Songs
The band released several albums that became very popular. Their first album was Shongbigno Pakhikul O Kolkata Bishayak, released in 1977. Another well-known album was Aabaar Bochhor Kuri Pore. Their last album, Khyapar Gaan, came out in 1999. Even after they stopped playing together, their music continued to inspire many new artists. In 2008, a concert called Abar Bochhor Tirish Pore was held to celebrate their music.
